Metered taxi fares, explained
Local journeys are usually charged on the meter. A fixed fare is a separate price agreed with Cuckmere Taxis when you book.
Daytime
07:00–22:59, excluding Sundays, bank holidays and festive periods

How distance charges work
The supplied tariff card lists an initial charge for the first 880 yards, then distance increments. For ordinary daytime, Sunday and night/bank-holiday tariffs it shows 20p per 106.7 yards, approximately £3.30 per mile. For festive periods the card’s per-mile guide is £6.60. The meter applies the programmed tariff; this page is a summary, not a fare calculator.
Waiting and slow traffic
The card lists 20p per 40 seconds of waiting time for ordinary tariffs and 40p per 40 seconds for the festive tariff. That is £18 or £36 per hour of chargeable waiting. The meter handles distance and time according to its programmed tariff; these are not automatic surcharges on every minute of your trip.
Soiling charges
The supplied card lists £125 for ordinary tariffs and £180 for the Christmas/New Year tariff. Ask your driver if you need any fare condition explained.
A fixed fare is agreed before the journey
Our published fixed fares apply to specified pre-booked journeys. The festive exception still applies. Tell us about extra stops and waiting when booking so the agreed price covers your actual journey.
Which tariff applies?
Ask your driver to explain the tariff before you set off if you are unsure. The council tariff card displayed in the vehicle and the authorised meter are the reference for a metered journey. This guide uses the tariff card supplied to Cuckmere Taxis; council tariffs can change.
